Interpretation Questions

  1. What is the relationship between sin and sickness? Does sin lead to sickness? Is sickness always the result of sin? See John 9:1-3 and 1 Corinthians 11:27-30
  2. Why would James direct the elders to pray for the sick? Why do they have this special responsibility? 1 Peter 5:1-3
  3. In verse 15, what is the “prayer offered in faith?” that James speaks of?
  4. Verses 19-20 seem to be an abrupt ending to this book? Is there any connection to the overall purpose and theme of the book?

  1. What are some of the principles of prayer you learned in this passage? What will you do this week to improve your prayer life?
  2. Do you have another person to whom you can confess your sins on a regular basis? Is there someone that keeps you accountable? Who has God put in your life that you could approach to become your accountability partner?
