Giving Thanks Everyday

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

In this season of thanksgiving, let us be reminded that giving thanks is not something that we should only do occasionally or only during the season of thanksgiving, but rather is something that we are continuously called to do. No matter our circumstances, we have something truly amazing to be thankful for – the blessings of grace and salvation provided by God. Let us also be reminded that giving thanks in itself is a gift that provides us with joy in enabling a true perspective, a stirred heart and a refreshed mind.

During very difficult times, thanksgiving is not always something that comes first to our mind, but when we step back and see God’s hand holding us firm to help us through the difficult periods we can see just how much we have to be thankful for. During times when things are going well, it can be easy to overlook the blessing that we have, or even take them for granted, and so let us make a habit of daily quiet reflection to remind ourselves of all the things around us that we have to be thankful to god for – whether it be friends, family, community, all the people we interact with, or the beauty of god’s creation in our lives.
