God’s Omnipotent Exuberance To Do Us Good

When I delivered the message about Joshua 1:9 “be strong and courageous for the Lord God will be with you wherever you go” to young elementary school students, one of students asked me “Where is God in my daily life?” Unseen God is most important reality in whole universe but often times his reality is forgotten. John Piper explains this in his book “Taste and See” like “one of the reasons our witness to God’s reality is minimal is that our understanding of God’s reality is minimal” What we need is a big picture of a great God who is committed to joyfully demonstrating his greatness in doing us good. That is, we need to see the majesty of God and know the splendor of God overflowing toward us with exuberant omnipotence.

Here are the passages John Piper suggests that help us to meditate the wonder of God’s exuberant omnipotence in doing good to those who hope in Him.

The Lord your God is with you,  the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. I will remove from you  all who mourn over the loss of your appointed festivals, which is a burden and reproach for you (Zephaniah 3:17-18)

I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul. (Jeremiah 32:40-41)

For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war (2 Chronicles 16:9)

For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. (Psalm 149:4)

Have a great week!
