Have Fun

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.[a]

Proverbs 3:5-6

There are many different things that make up a good relationship. Of course common interests we share with someone play a significant role as does the trustworthiness of someone when we want to share something intimate. For me, though, it’s when I can laugh and joke and just have a good time with someone that I feel like I can call them a friend. It’s when they can laugh with me that I feel as though they trust my friendship as well. For me, a good relationship must involve some fun!

As I grew in my relationship with Christ, there was a moment when I wondered if I would want Jesus at the parties I went to – in other words, would I want to invite him to places and gatherings where I was just going to hang out and have some fun with my friends. Was He welcome? As I asked myself this question, I realized that it was SUPER important that my answer was, “yes,” otherwise I had no business praying to him in the evenings and having quiet time when in reality He wasn’t really my Lord nor was He really the person I trusted and loved.

Whether I thought the fun things I was doing or fun places I was going was right before God wasn’t really the point. I didn’t necessarily have to make things perfect before I wanted Jesus around. The point was, did I love and trust Him enough to invite Him there? Once I desired His presence, did I trust Him enough to not condemn me but rather transform me should there be something wrong?

Once I took the risk and asked him to be there with me wherever I go, real transformation began to happen in me and fun times just got all the more fun!

I encourage you to trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and have some fun with Him this week! He is indeed a good friend and will make your paths straight.

With love.
