Heartland, God’s Heart for This Land

Exodus 1:15-16 (New International Version)

15 The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, 16 “When you are helping the Hebrew women during childbirth on the delivery stool, if you see that the baby is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.”

Matthew 2:16 (New International Version)

16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

Within biblical history there have been two very distinct moments when God, through an anointed Savior, moved to free and save His people. One was the Exodus, through Moses, and the other of course is the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. And from the two verses that have been referenced, it seems as if when God moved in these significant ways, Satan countered with the killing of children.

I mention this because I believe God is on the move today to usher in His Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven, in our time, on a greater scale and pace as compared to times past. However, just as it was at the time of the birth of Moses and Jesus, I also believe that one of the ways that Satan is countering God’s move is by doing what he did before- the killing of children but also on a scale greater than times past. Through abortions, trafficking, suicides, and the like, the youth of today are literally being killed off on a scale that is too tragic to measure.

The youth of South Korea are certainly not an exception to this. From the atrocities already mentioned, to recent tragedies like the Sewol ferry accident that specifically took the lives of hundreds of youth, I believe that the Korean youth are under a serious attack from the enemy.

On one hand, we can glean something positive from this knowing that God is on the move in a significant way, here in Korea, which explains Satan’s heightened activity here. But on the other, recognition of this growing epidemic should stir in the people of God a fresh awakening and urgency to content for the youth of this nation, in Jesus name!

God has without a doubt, brought/placed all of us here, whether ex-pat or Korean national, by His providence for multiple reasons for such a time as this, of which I AM SURE one being to battle for the next generation of this nation for the Lord.

So as we recognize the spiritual movement and climate of our time, particularly in this country of South Korea, let us as God’s people rise up to take our place. To rise up and take our place not just of inheritance, but also of our battle positions, to fight for in prayer, guard in the truth of God’s word, and equip in Jesus’ love, the youth of this nation! I have no doubt in my heart that if you are an English-speaker living in Korea right now, this is certainly one of the reasons God has brought you here, for such a time and a purpose as this.

It’s go time!
