Heed the Seed!

He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.

Matthew 13:31-32

Seeds are amazing! They certainly don’t look it as it as they are just little bits of woodish material. But they are! For from these small bits come the most beautiful things in the world, flowers! The largest things in the world, trees! As well as the sustenance for all life, fruits and vegetables! Truly amazing!! However, it is also true that for those seeds to grow into their grand destinies, they need proper tending.

I mention this because from this Thursday to Saturday of this week (Aug, 3-5, 2023), we will be hosting our annual VBS (Vacation Bible School) where children ages 3 to 5th grade from our community and beyond will be attending. And like seeds, though these children don’t seem like much more than runny noses and potty accidents, they each have the grandest destinies placed into them by the Lord, their Maker! But, also like seeds, their grandest destinies need the proper tending for them to be fulfilled.

That’s where VBS comes in. 3 short days but 3 short days of a concerted effort by a team of 40 + individuals made up of church staff to many volunteers, who have recognized the potential of these children and as well as the nurturing potential of this moment!!

So in light thereof, please join us in recognizing the “seed-potential” of this event and pray with us for this VBS! Everything from the admin and logistics to run this multi-faceted program, to the strength and endurance needed by all the adults involved to execute well during these three days, to of course and especially, the children attending; that each and every one of them will truly be nurtured towards the fullness of who they are in Jesus!!

And while your at it, please recognize the “seed-potential” of each moment of our lives and each person we encounter! As alluded by Jesus in the parable of the mustard seed, that in each of these, greatness for the Lord can be birthed with the proper nurturing!

So let’s always be nurturing the many “seeds” in our lives and in such, may your life be filled with an abundance of grand forests, beautiful gardens, and bountiful harvests! AMEN!!
