Jars of Clay

7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.  – 2 Corinthians 4:7-10

Can you think of a time in your life when you felt overwhelmed and overburdened to the point of breaking down mentally and even physically?  Perhaps you are currently going through that time right now.  If you are, I pray that you find strength in this very passage.

We are bombarded by the world around us to beat us down.  I don’t have to remind you how much the satan tries to break us and compromise our values with pressures and stress of life.  We are attacked in every angle and aspect of our lives at work and home.  But take refuge in today’s scripture!

Apostle Paul writes this letter to the Corinthians and to us today that we have this amazing “treasure” in us from God.  This treasure is the very essence of Jesus who lives in us to endure all that life throws at us!  As we wait and anticipate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter, let us be reminded of “this all-surpassing power” to overcome and to live victorious life!  By doing so, the world will know Jesus through the testimonies of our lives!
