Jump! Jump! Jump!

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. – Matthew 4:14

My 3 year-old daughter’s favorite song right now is Jana Alayra’s Jump into the Light. The song starts off by singing, “Jump! Jump! Jump! Into the light! Light! Light!” It’s not the most complicated of lyrics. And whenever she hears that song she gets so excited, and she runs to me and says, “Daddy! Daddy! It’s Jump! Jump! Jump!”

Jesus says, “in Matthew 4:14 that you are the light of the world. I think it was meant to be an exciting message for us. However, I don’t know how excited we normally are to go to others around us and share the excitement of Jump! Jump! Jump!

Often times when we face the realities of life, it doesn’t seem like there’s much to be excited about and celebrate. However, we should be. We should be excited we have life. We should be excited we have the gospel. We should be excited that we can be called
friends of God. We should be excited that we live in the freedom and truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ every day of our lives. And we should be excited that we can run to others with excitement and say, “Hey everybody! It’s that song! It’s Jump! Jump! Jump,” with the excitement and innocence of a 3 year-old child.

I would like to encourage everyone this week to live with the joy and excitement of being the light of the world that God has called us to be. And may we all Jump! Jump! Jump! Into the light! Light! Light! in the victory that we have Jesus Christ this week.
