Klejment-Lavin’s – Fall 2015 Update

Hi everyone-

It has been a busy 2 ½ months since we last sent an update, so I’ll try to be as concise as possible while sharing everything that has been going on. In September, Carolyn was back to school full-time and I (Ryan) began to teach a Christian Missions class for a study abroad program. It has been both a challenge and a pleasure to teach the 3 hour college class every week. I am actually learning a lot along with the students as we dive into the history, theological background, cultural and strategic aspects of Christian missions. It has confirmed my deep desire to train and equip missions workers and I am looking forward to teaching this class again in the spring.

In September we also tweaked our organizational structure a bit. I transitioned from Director of Operations to full Director of Footstool, while Pastor Dave transitioned from Executive Director to Chair of the Board. It is a great opportunity to be able to step up in more responsibility for Footstool, but I also feel the increase of pressure. Please keep me in your prayers as I work to lead this still very new organization.

In October, Footstool partnered with The Tribe to conduct a one day seminar called ‘Live Scripture’. We brought in Dr. Scott Carroll of the Manuscript Research Group to teach on the history, authenticity, and transmission of Scripture through the years. Dr. Carroll is a world expert in ancient documents, and has a passion for teaching about the unique qualities of Scripture. Dr. Carroll brought several ancient Torahs and other manuscripts, including one of three complete Isaiah scrolls. It was an inspirational and challenging time as we learned just how incredible the Bible is, and how in our daily lives we don’t treat it as such.

This past week we conducted our second module of the Ministry in the Margins class. Dr. Bob and Gracie Ekblad flew in again, along with Lin Button from the U.K. to teach in depth on ministering inner healing. The class was around 60 people who gathered for several hours each night last week for training and practice in prayer. The whole module was incredible; we saw some physical healings, many received inner healing in different areas, and spent a lot of time praying and getting prayed for. We know one of the biggest hindrances to ministry is our undealt with past wounds and we see a huge need for greater training in inner healing and soul care for ministry workers which makes this training so very important and needed.

Finally, we are excited  to announce we will be back in the US for the holidays! We will be in the States from December 14th-January 25th, in-between Erie and Rochester as usual. It is our very first visit to the US as a family of 3 and much needed time of vacation, but we also want it to be a time to connect with our friends and supporters- so please let us know if you are available to meet up! Our schedule is not finalized yet, but we will be speaking at The Federated Church on December 20th, and at First Alliance Church on January 24th. As we have also mentioned, our financial support is low so we are also looking for other opportunities to share about our ministry and the opportunities to partner, so if you know of a church or group that would be interested please let us know- we would really appreciate it!

Many blessings, much love and hopefully see many of you soon!

Ryan, Carolyn and Noah
