Made to Worship

1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. – Psalm 100

We are made to worship! Period!

Everyone in this world, whether Christian or not is made to worship something. Some people worship God. Some people worship a god. And other people worship themselves as a god. But, we all still worship something.

Sometimes we worship things that have no purpose being worshiped. Some people worship money. Some people worship their jobs. Other people worship their bosses who they try to find favor with to get more money. And some people just worship the ground, which others walk on, even though the ground itself is not worthy of any worship at all.

Many people say they want to worship God, but what they are really saying is that they want to worship a god that fits the image they like, or an idol that just fits into their pocket, and they can pull out whenever they like. When we try to fit God into our pocket, He ceases to be God, but He because more like a genie in a bottle.

Some people don’t even pursue a relationship with God, and yet they claim to be spiritual. In fact, lots of people in this world are spiritual. Actually, everyone is spiritual, they just don’t know that they are. And there are spirits of the Holy Spirit, and there are spirits of another spirit, but being spritual is not worship. It’s still just forming their own image of what they would like for God, but they just can’t muster the courage to call Him God, so He is not God.

However, the fact remains – everyone is made to worship… something.

Who is it that you worship? Do you worship God or another spirit?

As we start off this Monday and this week, let’s start off in worship to the one true God. May everything we do this week be an act of worship to Him. May our lips sing of His wonderful glory, and my our footsteps follow His, and my our hearts be devoted to love for one another as He loved us. May we live in wonderful worship to the Lord this week!
