Pandemic = Time to Pray!

When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. 3 Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake. –Revelation 8:1-5

This is not a devotion to over-simplify.

This is not a reductionist devotion.

For if ever there was a time to pray and pray A LOT. It is now.

This is due to the state of the current world, but the also the opportunity the state of the current world affords us.

Certainly, there are things that we are missing out on due to this pandemic. The list can be, and is long. On this list are even some good things of God’s Kingdom.

However, this is also a time where we can do more of certain things that we know are both right and better for us to do as God’s people but might not have otherwise done as much simply because of the daily, busy schedules that most of us reading this devotion have as those living in an urban, mega metropolitan context (I know that’s quite a long sentence 😅).

Namely, prayer.

And all the more when we see again or anew the place, the priority, and the power that the Lord has ascribed to it when it comes from His people crying out to Him in humility and faith.

For some support in this, I harken us all to the message that was just shared this past Sunday at Jubilee (09/06/2020). Here’s the link to the message:

Brothers and sisters, let us use this time of the pandemic (aka- forced rest) in THE BEST and MOST FRUITFUL way possible; to grow our relationship with the Lord while ushering in more of the Kingdom of God here in our lives AS WELL AS IN THIS WORLD as it is in heaven.

And all this, simply through prayer.

In Jesus name, Amen!!
