For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Romans 3:23-24

Paul’s statement here is short and to the point. He is reminding the church in Rome, and us, that all have sinned and all have fallen short of God’s glory. It doesn’t matter how good we consider ourselves to be, or how much better we think we are than someone whose sin has been publicly exposed… There is no one that does not sin. Everyone sins. Everyone has sinned. We all fall short of the glory of God. There is nothing that we can do to rectify that.

In spite of our sins, through Christ, we are all freely justified and redeemed. By the grace of God and the blood that was shed on the cross, we have been justified and declared righteous. This gift is a universal invitation to anyone (all) willing to receive it freely by placing their faith in Christ. This is not something that we can earn, or that we even deserve but has been freely given.

As we go through the week let’s take some time to reflect on the amazing gift that we have received and may we glorify His name through our behavior, attitude, actions, and the words that come from our mouths. May our lives and our work be geared towards His praise and glory. May we be conformed to the likeness and image of Christ and present our bodies to Him as a living sacrifice.

Have a blessed week!
