Stepping Out In Faith

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

“I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.[a]
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”

Genesis 12:1-3

There comes a time when we are called to step out in faith, trusting God even when we can’t see what lies ahead. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as “confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” It’s a call to believe in the promises of God, even when the circumstances around us seem uncertain.

In Genesis, God called Abraham to leave his homeland and go to a place he didn’t know, “The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.’” Abraham didn’t have a detailed map or a clear itinerary; all he had was God’s word and a promise.

Stepping out in faith requires us to let go of our need for control and wholeheartedly trust God’s guidance. I pray that when God calls us to step out in faith, to move beyond our comfort zones, and to trust in His plan for our lives we will do so with boldness.
