17 Jul: Loving Over Friendly

I believe friendships are something special that God grants us in different shapes or forms in various seasons. Particularly in Korea, I feel many people connect simply under the fact that they are expats (those residing outside their native country) or they have lived outside of Korea for an extended period and still feel a deep connection to more of a Western/English-speaking culture. Beyond this, people make friends based on common interests or hobbies. Now, this week’s devotional is not about how to make friends but for us to consider our approach in being friends, especially with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

05 Jan: Lean on God

It’s that time of the year. We look back to reflect and make an assessment of the year gone by.
Did we come at to top? Did we reach our goals? Did the good things outweigh the bad things? We can’t help ourselves. We are reflective beings, and whether we do it intentionally or subconsciously, we place ourselves at that context of output to measure and grade ourselves and our lives. And then we look forward for the year ahead of us, and set goals, make resolutions. And whether we are able to achieve all those things are secondary in nature. The fact is we are built to hope for things, and thus make plans. It keeps us moving with a sense of purpose and direction.
