The Chun’s Update – June 2015

With all of the things happening around the world, all of the shakings that are going on, Sharon and I are constantly reminded to “press on” toward the higher calling of Jesus (Philippians 3:14). We are reminded of why we came to Kansas City in the first place. We really did come here “know God, and make him known” (the motto of YWAM). Our passion is that every person on earth would hear about the Father and His love for us. God is about multiplying. If what we are doing is not multiplying, in our families, in our workplaces, then we are not being good stewards of what He has given us. Therefore, I am so thankful that we can be a part of a place where God really is the center and we really are doing our part to spread his love to the Nations!

We had an opportunity to participate and help organize a gathering of evangelists from Impact World (IW). Mark Anderson, the director of our base, started IW 20 years ago (now it’s also known as YWAM Campaigns) and they have preached the gospel to millions of people all around the world and many have come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They do evangelistic campaigns in cities and even whole countries and reach the youth with the message of Jesus. This past month, they were in Daejeon, Korea and tens of thousands of young people gave their lives to the Lord! These youths were then plugged into local churches for further discipleship. Jesus said, “Pray to the Lord of the Harvest for laborers” and I am thankful that these men and women are the answers to this prayer. It was an honor to serve these amazing brothers and sisters!

The Father’s Heart
The local church we’ve been attending is called the Forerunner Christian Fellowship (FCF) and it is a part of the International House of Prayer (IHOP). Every Sunday, the message has been really speaking to us and this past Sunday, we heard an excellent message on the Father Heart of God. Please take some time to listen to it. You can click here for the message.

The gist of the message was that we need to know our core identity. And our identity has to come from our Father. Our core identity cannot come from other things or even people because if those things ever disappoint, then we are left with nothing. This has been really speaking to Sharon and me these days because sometimes we feel like we are not doing a lot for the kingdom (which is not true) and we can get discouraged. However, God is pleased with us even before we do anything, He actually likes us and enjoys being with us! This is the revelation that keeps us going when we are doing the mundane and also when we are doing amazing works for God…

We are all doing great and please also keep us updated on how you are doing, even if it’s a quick one sentence email! We’d love to hear from you as well. Have a safe and fun Independence (and Canada!) Day!
