The Chun’s Update: June & July 2016

The Chun Family Update
June and July 2016
Dear Friends,

We just got back to Kansas City after over a month of traveling to Korea and Vancouver. It was a good time to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones, but it is good to be back home and back to a normal routine. Here are some of the highlights from our trip:

Korea Congress

For the past year and a half, I’ve been helping to organize the call2all Korea Congress. One of the main reasons I was recruited by call2all was because of my years of experience in Korea. So, 1.5 years of work all came down to 5 days in Ilsan Korea from June 27 to July 1. Although I was behind the scenes for much of the Congress, here are a few takeaways from the Congress:

1) Attendees. Almost 2,000 people came out for the 5 days of the Congress including 600 underground Chinese Church leaders, 300 internationals, and 1,000 Korean natives. Over half of the attendees were younger emerging leaders, which is a shift from previous Congresses.

2) Commitments. Not only did we gather to hear about what God is doing in missions, but we were able to make commitments to bring the gospel to the ends of the earth. We had more commitments from individuals and organizations than ever before (see the final commitment numbers below).

3) It was all worth it. Moving my family from Korea to Kansas City last year was a big step for us. It was a challenging past year for us, but seeing the fruit of the Congress was well worth any challenges we had.

(Re)Connecting with Friends and Family

After the Congress we spent a couple of weeks reconnecting with friends and family in Korea and Vancouver. We were able to speak at the Sunday services at Jubilee Church in Seoul. We received a lot of great feedback and also were able to form even more partnerships with some amazing people! Also, it was a blessing because Sharon and I were able to both speak that day. To here the sermon you can click here.

Vancouver was a great spending time with family and even friends from our days at Jubilee. We all enjoyed the perfect Vancouver weather and Shiloh loved spending time at the playground near the beach!

Sharon’s DTS!

Although Sharon’s been a full-time missionary for a year and a half she has never gone on foreign missions. Therefore, after praying about it, she’s decided to do a 6-month Discipleship Training School (DTS) at YWAM Kansas City this Fall. This includes 3 months of missions training and 3 months on the field. Also, Victor will be transitioning his role from the call2all department to the Training department. This means that he will be helping to organize the DTS this Fall as well as helping with training and discipleship of the students. This also means that he will be staffing Sharon’s school!

Please pray for us as we transition to this new phase. We will be doing additional fundraising for the DTS, so if you would like to sow into this, you can click here and go to “Sharon’s DTS”.

The Chuns Need One!

We need to raise and additional $1,000 per month of this next year to continue to do what we are doing. It may sound like a lot, but it would only take 10 people who donate $100 per month, or 20 people who donate $50 for us to be fully funded. We are asking if you would consider supporting us with 1% of your income for the next year. We love for you to partner with us in this way.

We are grateful for every one of you and hope that these updates bless you!

Much Love,
The Chuns
