Truth is a Person

Jesus answered “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life.” No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6

Winston Churchill once said “Truth is so precious that is protected by a bodyguard of Lies”. In context he was talking about secrecies and the sensitivities of key information during a wartime period.

But I can’t help thinking that it also applies in the grander context of life. There is an yearning in the human heart that thirsts for truth, the essence of life, and throughout history we have seen that yearning manifested in one form or another: some in the form of political ideologies, some in the creation of different religions or philosophical worldviews. But the fact is, that they all have come up a bit short, a bit unsatisfactory and often times a bit deceitful to the ideal of what essence ought to be. Blaise Pascal, one of the greatest intellectuals and philosophers of the 17th century poignantly  pointed out that “There is a Godshaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made know through Jesus Christ.”

Jesus claims “I am the Truth”. In fact he said I am the WAY, and the TRUTH, and the LIFE” (John 14:6). He goes on to say that whoever drinks of the water He gives, will never thirst again (John 4:14)

What are you searching for? Success? Honor? Power? Meaning? Underneath all those things is essentially the search for Truth. The world has offered in different philosophies, dogmas and ideologies. Only Jesus offers it in himself as a person. Truth is not in a thing, an idea, but in the personhood of Christ.

Come and know this Truth, trust in this Truth , and this Truth will set you free!

Have a blessed week.
