Weekly Devotion: I Want to Eat & I Need to Eat

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

‭‭John‬ ‭6:47-51‬ ‭ESV‬‬

At the start of the week, I am grateful to have been reminded that the Living God has a Word for us and He is with us as our counselor and best friend. He nourishes us with His Word and there is no better joy than knowing that we are taken care of by God all the way through eternity. Praise be to God!

I want to encourage all of us this week to do the seven essential steps for reading Scripture that P. Dave spoke of yesterday in His sermon. It’s a lifestyle we should adopt rather than mere instructions and these are really helpful guidelines to follow.

Here are the 7 components to living Scripture:
1. Read the Bible everyday
2. Make a plan
3. Study it
4. Meditate (think about it)
5. Pray it
6. Share it
7. Obey it

If I could add one more thing that is important as well, it is reflecting on how we’ve seen God’s word come to life in the past. Remembering is an important part of our faith because it allows us to endure during hard times and still have hope. Journaling is a great way to reflect and even share with others. I highly recommend it!

I hope all of you enjoy reading the Bible this week and experience God presence through it!

With love,
P Judy
