These world class sporting events are a sight to behold.

They bring people together like nothing other. The expressions of emotions devoted is unparalleled. The willingness to lay it all down for a victory is unbridled. The focus applied is singular and unwavering.

This, and more, is true for both player and fan.

And in such is a challenge for the Church.

For by all this, we are able to clearly see what we as humans are capable of in terms of our capacity for commitment, when our commitments are sincere and undivided.

We are left without excuse.

Matthew 22:37-40

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a]38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b]40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Matthew 28:19-20

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

With love.
